Michael Kimner has spent more than twenty years in the Energy Industry, many of them with the Duke Energy Corporation. He began as the Vice President of Trading and Portfolio Management at Duke Energy Trading and Marketing in Houston, Texas, and held that position for several years. Michael Kimner was in charge of all derivative trading, and provided full hedging services for the company’s physical natural gas group on a national level, which covered virtually every pipeline in the United States.

Michael Kimner then became Duke Energy’s Chief Trading Officer, a post he held for less than one year. He was responsible for all financial and risk trading activity within Duke Energy Trading and Marketing, and directed a staff of ten financial traders and seven assistants.

From there, Michael Kimner moved on to become the Senior Vice President of Petroleum and Risk Trading at Duke Energy Merchants, where he generated gross margin trading profits in excess of $100 million, and implemented the company’s buisness strategy for creating a petroleum trading organization. Michael Kimner actively took part in all aspects of Duke Energy Merchants’ executive decision processes.

By April 2001, Michael Kimner has risen to become the President and Chief Executive Officer of Duke Energy Merchants. In that role, he designed and put into effect the company’s business plan for world energy comoddity trading, and established international trading offices in London and Singapore.

Today, Michael Kimner works independently in Investment Management. He lives in Charleston, South Carolina, rides his mountain bike almost every day, and is active in his community as an Assistant Scoutmaster and coach on the sports teams of his two children.
